Doctor’s Team Recruitment update

It’s been a busy year for the doctor’s team in Head Hunt International’s Dublin office. Currently we are in the throes of the final rounds of interviews for the January rotation of HSE NCHDs (Registrars and SHOs) although in reality we will be making last minute placements right in to the New Year. This year we have found several specialties to be in particular demand, for example Paediatrics and Emergency Medicine.
January will be a busy month for us too as we work with our doctors and the hospitals to make sure everyone is ready to start their new contract on Monday 10th January. There are a lot of compliance issues to attend to in this regard, including work-permits, visas, IELTS (English language test), IMC (medical council registration), occupational health, police clearance and more.
Compliance may not be glamorous but here in Head Hunt we take it very seriously and have our own dedicated compliance team to make sure everything runs smoothly and that doctors don’t get delayed. Also, it is reassuring to know that doctors coming to work in Ireland are thoroughly vetted by multiple parties at every step of the way, from CV application all the way through to treating their first patient.
And of course these overseas doctors are highly welcome here in Ireland, as the health system would not be able to survive without them, and they bring with them the added-value of their own internationally-sourced skills and culture.
Apart from the public hospitals we have also had a busy year placing Consultants, junior doctors and AHPs with our private hospital clients, as Head Hunt continues to grow year-on-year, both in Ireland and overseas. This is true across the company actually, including our Nursing division and also in our non-Medical divisions. It is an exciting time to work in Recruitment in Ireland - the economic recovery may be fragile, but it is heartening to see companies prosper and the unemployment rate come down below 8%.
One big highlight of the year for our medical teams was meeting so many doctors and nurses at the Irish Medical Times Careers Expo in Dublin last month, and we look forward to helping place many of these health professionals in their next contract.
Head Hunt was also pleased to get involved in some CSR and fundraising this year, supporting charitable efforts in both Cork University Hospital and the Mater Hospital, as well as our own team taking part in the Simon Community Fun Run, which was tough on the legs but good for team morale!
Finally, as this may be the last blog entry of the year from the doctor’s team, it may be too early to say Happy Christmas, but we will certainly be wishing all of our candidates and clients the very best for 2017.
