A Major Medical Devices Company in Galway, Ireland is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person for the following post:

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

Job Description


The successful candidate will be responsible for design and development of new products in accordance with the Company's Design Control procedure.

Duties/Responsibilities

Liaise with Marketing and Clinicians throughout the design cycle to understand their needs and align product functionality and performance accordingly.

Develop new products, including design feasibility, prototype generation, detailed design and subsequent design verification & validation.

Develop Component & Product Specification and associated Test method including validation (TMV).

Identify material specifications and source/ work with suitable vendors to establish supply capability.

Prepare technical documentation in accordance with regulatory and design control requirements.

Provide input, from product design perspective, into process development.

Provide input and direction to management on various technical issues.

Generate ECN's, Protocols and prototypes.

Perform other related duties and tasks as required.



Education/ Qualification/ Experience

Degree in Engineering or related technical field and at least 5 years related experience.

Formal project management training an advantage.

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member.

Good working knowledge of medical device materials and processes.

Experience in the development of mechanical devices, metal properties and processing.

Experience dealing with Marketing, Clinical and Regulatory personnel.

Working knowledge of AutoCAD / Solidworks and / or 3D modelling experience.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including MS Project or similar.

Good working knowledge of medical device quality & regulatory systems and medical device directives.
