Applications are invited from a major healthcare Company in Ireland for a Head of Quality, Safety & Risk, to support their Health & Wellbeing Programme

Head of Quality, Safety & Risk, Health & Wellbeing
(Based in Dublin)

The Role

Responsible for the creation, enhancement and implementation of the QSR framework. Ensure that all clinical legal, statutory, regulatory, licensing, credentialing and accreditation requirements are fully secured and maintained at each facility and promote and pursue a culture and programme of continuous quality improvement across all H&W teams. Provide leadership to the QSR team and foster an environment where they can perform to their optimum capability and have opportunities to learn and develop. The Head of Quality, Safety & Risk will report directly into the Chief Clinical Officer.


*Continual development and phased implementation of the QSR framework to ensure it percolates through all areas in H&W and QSR is considered in all service design activity. Accountable for ensuring the QSR structure, tools, guidance and expertise are available to those delivering services across H&W.
*Lead the QSR team, providing an environment to excel, role clarity and constructive feedback to enable learning and growth within the team and foster a psychologically safe culture.
*Develop a framework for health system accreditation and ensure alignment with other organisational priorities.
*Develop a system to ensure H&W is compliant with all relevant clinical legal, statutory and regulatory requirements.
*Develop a systematic clinical audit programme that drives improvements in clinical performance and provides assurance to H&W executive and Board.
*Maximise learning opportunities by ensuring a comprehensive system of data and intelligence gathering is in place (e.g. incidents, complaints, risks and high performance areas).
*Put in place systems to maximise system-wide anticipation of risks and hazards, sharing of learning and enhancement of processes.
*Develop a programme to embed proactive risk management throughout all levels of H&W, with the implementation of a risk assurance framework which ensures identified risks are managed and controlled appropriately.
*Nurture a culture in which key decisions consider possible risks, and people are trained and educated effectively with regard to risk consideration.
*Develop informative quality metrics, including the identification of key measures of patient experience and patient reported outcomes and lead initiatives to enhance patient experience.
*Develop a programme to embed the science of human factors and champion a culture of psychological safety across H&W, ensuring H&W is a high reliability organisation.
*Identify, measure and monitor appropriate national and international clinical benchmarks.
*Any other duties deemed appropriate to this role by the line manager.


Education & Knowledge:
*Minimum of 5 years in a senior QSR role in a clinical setting
*Clinical background with extensive clinical experience
*Recognised 3rd level qualification in healthcare quality, safety and risk

*Demonstrable knowledge and experience in developing, implementing and managing quality and patient safety programmes in a large healthcare organisation
*Experience operating in a strategic manner

*Extensive QSR knowledge and skillset
*Logical and calm manner with the ability to utilise data in decision making
*Fosters a culture of quality, safety, learning and excellence
*Good understanding of the challenges of leading and implementing a QSR framework and complex system change

*Authentic, collaborative leadership style with the ability to inspire colleagues, earn trust and support optimum performance.
