Job Title Clinical Director
Post 1 - South Dublin
Post 2 - Regional (Limerick initially)
Hours40 hours full-time (across 7 day roster)
Location of post The Regional Clinical Director will join the Company Team in a leadership role for it's new community facility in Limerick, ultimately extending to provide clinical leadership for other planned new regional services.
A Clinical Director is also required to take on a leadership role in the new facility in South Dublin.
The Company are now expanding its' services with the opening of community based facilities in Limerick and South Dublin. This facility will bring together urgent, ambulatory care services and medical screening and introduce a new model of care incorporating health promotion, prevention and chronic disease management.
Their new model of care is based on the principles of integrative medicine, where the patient and practitioner are partners in the healing process. As part of this model, along with the concept of treatment, the broader concepts of health promotion and the prevention of illness are paramount and all factors that influence health, wellness, and disease are taken into consideration, including the mind, body and spirit.
The successful candidates will be instrumental in establishing the new service in Limerick / South Dublin prior to the opening of the facility, working in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
In addition, a bespoke training programme in urgent care and integrative medicine will be provided, accredited by national or international institutes. The successful candidate will be offered protected time and will be supported to undertake this training in advance of the opening of the new facility and post-opening.
Reporting arrangements: The Clinical Director will report directly to the Chief Clinical Officer of the Company.
The responsibilities and reporting structures for this position, as outlined, may be subject to change in the future, within the context of the reconfiguration of management structures in the organisation and the clinical model.
Key working relationships
*The Clinical Director will operate as part of a "two-in-a-box" leadership team with an Operations Manager.
*Clinicians within the relevant services including medical, nursing and allied health will report to the Clinical Director for operational purposes.
*The Clinical Director will work in close collaboration with colleagues regionally and nationally, as well as inter-disciplinary teams across the services
Scope of the role. This role will require a high-calibre clinician with an exceptional track record in clinical leadership, who is proactive and innovative, passionate about leading the delivery of patient services with outstanding quality and safety, and with a strong desire to shape the way healthcare is delivered in Ireland.
The role holder will have accountability for the safe and effective delivery of all clinical services across the relevant facilities. The Clinical Director will work in close collaboration with the Operations Manager in ensuring the overarching strategies and practices are consistent with, and aligned to, the Health & Wellbeing Vision and Strategy.
The Clinical Director will also have a proportion of their time dedicated to the provision of clinical services. In this role, they will work as part of a new, multidisciplinary team committed to providing holistic integrated care. The team will deliver unscheduled urgent care and primary care focusing on health promotion, prevention and chronic disease management.
Purpose of the role The Clinic Director, in conjunction with the Operations Manager, will provide leadership for the Company's new facility in Limerick, and in time other new regional facilities as they come on board. The Clinical Director will have full accountability for clinical operations and the delivery of safe patient care and quality services.
The Clinical Director for South Dublin carries the same responsibilities.
The Clinical Director will have a minimum of 25% of their time allocated to the provision of clinical services within the relevant community facility and will be expected to increase the proportion of the role in clinical service provision to support business needs.
Principal duties and responsibilities
Full clinical responsibility and provide clinical governance for the services in the relevant facility. The Clinical Director will play a key role in planning how services are delivered alongside the Chief Clinical Officer.
Qualifications, experience, skills, competencies and / or knowledgeEssential Requirements:
*On a relevant Specialist Register with the Irish Medical Council, or eligible for same
*A minimum of 6 years post graduate experience in clinical practice, including significant experience in a community setting and/or general practice
*Previous experience in management or supervisory role with proven ability to lead and manage a team
*Experience in urgent care / minor trauma / emergency medicine
*Experience in Integrative Medicine or at a minimum a keen interest in this area
*6 months experience with paediatric patients would be beneficial
*Capable of interpreting x-rays and provide initial orthopaedic management for musculoskeletal injuries and fractures
*ATLS / APLS certification
*Experience in applying quality improvement methods to improve patient experience, safety and outcomes
