Job Description

A Major Medical Devices Company in Galway City, Ireland wish to recruit a suitably qualified person for the following post:

ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT

Responsibilities

Support Accountants with month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting close for European Entities.

Assist in preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations for bank, fixed assets, payroll, accruals etc.

Assist in preparation of payroll and reconcile on a monthly basis for European employees.

Assist in preparation of VAT returns and intrastate returns for European Sales Entities.

Ensures accurate and timely compilation of accounting information, analysis and reporting.

Provide support for internal and external audits.

Proposal and development of continuous improvements using lean tools to existing processes and procedures where appropriate.

Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and provide input for KPIs.

Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analysing causes of unexpected variances.

Supporting Accounting Team and Departments heads with in-depth analysis.

Performs a variety of other related accounting tasks, as required.



Education/ Qualification

Accounting/Business qualification and 2+ years' experience in similar position. Studying to be a qualified Accountant either ACA/ACCA/IATI/CIMA.

Broad understanding of Accounting and Financial Control Principles & Practices

Knowledge and experience of Oracle financials highly desirable but not essential.

A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and ability to work with some supervision in performing a variety of accounting tasks.

Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with others.

Ability to read and understand accounting related information and to prepare and summarize basic financial reports.
