  • Adaptability and problem solving go hand by hand here because in recruitment changes are constant, for example, a candidate has accepted a job offer from one of your clients, the recruiter moves on and notified the other applicants they were unsuccessful. Unfortunately, the candidate calls and decides to cancel the job offer last minute, now the recruiter needs to think fast and find a solution. Strong problem-solving skills and being able to quickly adapt to changes will determine how successful you will be as a recruitment consultant.
  • Finally, recruiter consultants must negotiate terms with clients about costs, and recruitment tactics. Moreover, the consultant also has to negotiate on behalf of the candidate with the client, and so on. As an intermediary, the consultant needs to find the best solution that works for both parties.

  • Recruiters need to be resilient. Circumstances can quickly change and are outside of your control, therefore the ability to maintain a positive attitude and find ways to negotiate solutions to problems is very important. Rejection and issues can be frustrating but they are part of the job, experience gives recruiters a tough skin that helps get over these situations, always have a backup plan prepared in case sometimes goes wrong along the way, and with the right training and skill set, you will overcome this challenges.

  • Working hours can be long, this, of course, depends on the company but usually, the hours are from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and this is because candidates who are looking for a new job may only be available before they start work, or after they have finished.
